Thanks, Moonie! I’d be very interested. I seem to recall an old story about Spencer Compton’s wife hiding in that house during Parliament’s siege but I couldn’t fine a reference to it when I was writing the post. I may have dreamt it, but I’m sure if it happened, any book on the house will include that.

I will try and find them ! I only have a picture of the house. The book is an old one I bought about thirty plus years ago containing some speeches and other stuff of Charles I .. also some bits about his trial …..and which has lived in a box somewhere in the garage for the last five or six years, so maybe it’s about time it found a new home! I can only imagine the terror of being under siege in your home for thirteen weeks. Your article pushes me to consider the human experience of that struggle. Another great article, Cryssa!
